If Karabakh conflict is not resolved peacefully, military confrontation is inevitable: Azerbaijani defense minister

The Defense Minister of Azerbaijan Safar Abiyev met on Sunday with Defense Minister of Russian Federation Anatoly Serdyukov traveling in Azerbaijan on two-day working visit, the the press service of Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan reported.

The meeting focused on prospects for military and technical cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan, the current military and political situation in the Caucasus and the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Abiyev said that the efforts of Russia to resolve the conflict are appreciated and encouraging. At the same time, if the conflict is not resolved through peaceful means, military confrontation is inevitable, Abiyev said.

Anatoly Serdyukov thanked for the warm hospitality extended to him during the two-day visit.
